Sail across Lake Titicaca and discover floating islands, ancient textiles, and unforgettable landscapes. An authentic cultural experience with GEO ADVENTURES.

Join Geo Adventure for an unforgettable journey across the sacred waters of Lake Titicaca on our Isla Uros Taquile Full Day Tour. We will spend the day discovering the fascinating cultures, traditions, and landscapes of two of the most iconic islands in southern Peru. This full day experience will take us across approximately 80 kilometers of shimmering high-altitude lake, offering constant views of the Andes and deep cultural insights. Isla Uros and Taquile will allow us to connect directly with communities that preserve ancient ways of life.
We will begin early in the morning with a scenic boat ride from Puno's main port. As we cross the lake, we will enjoy the fresh air and learn about the history of Lake Titicaca. The journey will first take us to Isla Uros, a group of floating islands built entirely from layers of totora reeds. Here, we will meet local families, see their homes, and understand how they build and maintain these remarkable islands.
We will continue the tour with a peaceful ride to Taquile, a solid island located about 35 kilometers away. Upon arrival, we will take a moderate walk up to the village, surrounded by terraced hillsides and lake views. On Taquile, local weavers will teach us traditional techniques that they have practiced for centuries and still use today.. The islanders will welcome us with warmth and offer a freshly prepared lunch made from local ingredients.
Throughout the day, we will have chances to ask questions, take photos, and explore freely. This tour will combine relaxation and discovery, with moments of quiet beauty and cultural exchange. Isla Uros and Taquile will inspire us with their history, resilience, and hospitality. We will return to Puno in the late afternoon with lasting memories and a deeper understanding of life on the lake.
Start Time: 07:00 AM
We will begin our full day tour at 07:00 AM with a pick-up. After meeting our guide, we will drive to the port. There, we will board a comfortable motorboat for the day’s lake journey. We will sail over the peaceful waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.
The Uros people build these islands using layers of totora reeds that float on the lake’s surface. The Uros people will welcome us and show us how they live on these floating homes. We will learn about their customs, fishing tools, and daily work. Their ancestral traditions remain strong and part of daily life. We may take an optional ride on a handcrafted reed boat for deeper immersion.
After exploring Uros, we will continue toward the natural island of Taquile, sailing for about 2 hours and 30 minutes. The journey offers beautiful views of the vast lake and distant mountains.
Next, we will go to Amantani Island, then we will begin a 30-minute walk uphill to the top of the island. The path is short but steep, so we will move slowly and enjoy the landscape. Once at the top, we will see the full scale of Lake Titicaca in all directions. At the top of the island, we will meet Quechua people. UNESCO recognizes their traditions for their cultural value. We will enjoy a traditional lunch. From the high village, we will take in unforgettable lake views.
After this final cultural experience, we will return to our boat for the journey back to Puno. The return ride will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. We will relax, reflect, and watch the changing colors of the sky. We will arrive in Puno by late afternoon, closing a powerful and inspiring day.
