Discover one of Peru’s most breathtaking landscapes. At over 5,200 meters above sea level, the Rainbow Mountain Tour awaits you with its stunning array of natural hues and breathtaking panoramic views.

Join us for the unforgettable Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Tour in Peru, where we will guide you through the stunning Andes. You will witness the vibrant colors of the famous Rainbow Mountain, known as Vinicunca, located at 5,200 meters above sea level. This trek will offer you breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
We will start the day with a scenic drive on our Rainbow Mountain tour from Cusco, about 3 hours away, heading to the trailhead. Along the way, we will pass picturesque villages and see the local culture up close. As we get closer, you will begin to see the first glimpses of the majestic mountain range that lies ahead.
Once we reach the start of the trek, we will begin our hike through rugged terrain, taking our time to acclimatize. The walk is approximately 3 kilometers to the base of the Rainbow Mountain, and we will enjoy several breaks to hydrate and adjust to the altitude. The route will offer views of alpacas grazing and locals going about their daily routines.
When we reach the top, you will be amazed by the sight of Vinicunca’s multi-colored slopes. The vibrant reds, yellows, and greens stand out against the backdrop of the towering mountains. We will have time to explore, take photos, and appreciate the beauty of this natural wonder before returning along the same path.
The return journey will be much easier as we descend back to the starting point. Afterward, we will stop for a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant, enjoying traditional Peruvian dishes. Finally, we will drive back to Cusco, where we expect to arrive in the late afternoon, completing an unforgettable adventure.
We'll pick you up from your hotel between 4:00 AM and 4:45 AM. Our adventure begins with a scenic drive. We’ll head south from Cusco for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. During the drive, we’ll pass quiet valleys and sleepy Andean villages.
We'll stop in the town of Cusipata for a buffet-style breakfast. Our team will answer any questions and prepare you for the hike. The fresh mountain air will help wake us up.
After breakfast, we'll continue by van for another hour to Fullawasipata. This high-altitude area sits at 4,626 meters above sea level. Here, our licensed tour guide will give safety instructions. We will stretch and adjust to the altitude before starting the hike.
We'll begin the hike to Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca. The trail is about 4 kilometers one way. We'll walk slowly, taking breaks when needed. The route crosses scenic valleys filled with alpacas and native plants. In the dry season, the skies stay clear and the views are memorable. During the rainy season, the trail may be muddy but still beautiful. We'll walk through dramatic landscapes shaped by time and nature.
We'll reach the summit after 1 hour and 30 minutes of hiking. The viewpoint stands at 5,200 meters above sea level. From here, we will see Rainbow Mountain in all its natural colors.
We’ll have time to rest, take photos, and enjoy the view. Our guide will explain the geology and culture of Vinicunca. The mountain's colors come from mineral deposits layered over millions of years. The high altitude may affect some of us, so we'll take it easy.
After visiting the summit, we will begin the walk back to the star point. The descent takes about 1 hour, with chances to spot wildlife again. Our transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata. There, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.
After lunch, we will relax during the drive back to Cusco. The ride takes about 2 hours and offers more mountain views. We will arrive around 4:00 PM and drop you off at your hotel. This will end our full-day mountain tour to Rainbow Mountain.

“Incredible Experience!”
We had such an amazing time on the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Tour with GEO ADVENTURE.
The scenery was breathtaking, and the hike was challenging but so worth it. The guide was super knowledgeable and supportive, especially with the altitude. The buffet breakfast and lunch were delicious too. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cusco.
