Resumen del tours

Our journey with Geo Adventure on the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2 Day Tour will begin from the city of Cusco as we drive through the stunning Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be Chinchero, a colorful Andean village known for its local community and textile center. We will learn about ancient weaving techniques and enjoy the mountain scenery at over 3,700 meters above sea level.

Next, we will visit Moray, where circular agricultural terraces showcase Inca ingenuity. We will continue to Maras, a charming village with colonial-style homes. Nearby, we will explore the impressive salt mines of Salineras, with over 3,000 pools glistening down the mountainside.

After lunch in Urubamba, we will reach Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town filled with archaeological sites. We will explore its stone structures and ancient streets before boarding the train. The scenic ride will follow the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes, where we will stay overnight and receive instructions for the next day.

On the second day, we will rise early in Aguas Calientes and take the Consettur bus up to Machu Picchu. We will explore the citadel during a guided tour of nearly 3 hours. We’ll visit the Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, Main Plaza, and the famous agricultural terraces. After the tour, we’ll return to Aguas Calientes and board the train back to Ollantaytambo.

From the station, we’ll drive to Cusco and end our tour near the Plaza de Armas. This two-day adventure will allow us to explore the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu in a short time.

This trip to Machu Picchu reaches a maximum altitude of 3,762 meters and requires moderate walking. We recommend booking at least one month in advance. Visiting Machu Picchu is highly recommended for those wanting to witness the legacy of the Inca Empire.

Itinerary
Day 1: Sacred Valley – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

We’ll start early between 6:20 and 6:50 A.M. from our hotel in Cusco. As the golden morning light bathes the Andean peaks, we will drive into the breathtaking Valley of the Incas. Along the way, snow-capped mountains, emerald valleys, and terraced hillsides will fill the landscape with color and life.

Our first stop will be Chinchero, perched at 3,762 meters above sea level. This village blends ancient history with warm Andean hospitality. We’ll explore colonial churches built on massive Inca foundations, then visit the Textile Interpretation Center. Smiling artisans in traditional clothing will welcome us with open arms and demonstrate the secrets of natural dyes and ancestral weaving passed down for generations.

We’ll then journey to Moray, a mysterious site of concentric circular terraces carved deep into the earth. The air is crisp and fresh, and the silence feels sacred. Each level of this ancient laboratory holds a different microclimate, showcasing the brilliant agricultural knowledge of the Inca Empire.

Next, we’ll cruise through the charming town of Maras, where whitewashed homes line cobblestone streets. Just beyond, the mountainside glistens with over 3,000 dazzling salt pools at Salineras. These salt pans shimmer under the sun, and local families—kind and humble—still harvest salt with the same techniques used since Inca times. It's a living heritage you can taste and touch.

We’ll then head to Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley. Here, a buffet lunch awaits with delicious Andean dishes made from local ingredients. Depending on the season there will be some fresh corn, quinoa, alpaca, and native potatoes that bring Peru’s culinary traditions to life.

After lunch, we’ll reach the ancient town of Ollantaytambo, one of the last Inca cities still inhabited. Massive stone walls, sacred temples, and ceremonial fountains echo the power of the past. We’ll walk through its narrow alleys, surrounded by lush hills and locals proud to share their heritage.

From the train station, we will board the 15:37 or 16:36 PM train to Aguas Calientes. The panoramic windows reveal a dramatic shift in scenery from highland peaks to jungle-covered cliffs. The ride along the roaring Urubamba River offers postcard-perfect views every minute.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, our friendly staff will greet us at the station and guide us to our hotel. The evening will be free to relax, stroll through the town, and receive key instructions for the next day’s adventure to the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu.
